1 Overall aims of course

By the end of the course the students will be able to:

§ Demonstrate knowledge of the principles needed for writing engineering reports and the logical basis for engineering writing.

§ Provide the basics for writing engineering reports and explain the required details.

§ Illustrate outlines and editing procedures necessary for engineering writing.

§ Share ideas and work in a team in an efficient and effective manner under controlled supervision or independently

A- Knowledge and understanding


  • a1-Explain the guidelines for good engineering writing..

    a2-Describe the format of an engineering report and the structure of a thesis.

    a3-Illustrate the methods of presentation of data.

    a4-Describe and explain how to write some common engineering documents such as laboratory reports, inspection and trip reports, progress reports and proposals

    a5-Gain knowledge of writing letters, memoranda and electronic mail, and also write to get an engineering job.
